Steve's been gone since last Tuesday--attending a conference in San Francisco. (That explains the long car trip from an earlier post. I didn't want to advertise that he was gone until he got back.)
Heavenly Father really knew what He was doing when He planned this life. There is a reason why families are supposed to have a mom and a dad! I'm so grateful that Steve is back. We really missed him. Welcome home, Steve!
We had a few adventures while Steve was gone (the garden), and one last challenge when we drove to pick him up . . . in another wind storm! I drove the entire way to Vegas with my hands white-knuckled at "10 and 2" on the steering wheel. At times I could actually feel the van shaking from side to side with the wind coming from both directions. Needless to say, it was a little scary.
The ride home was a little different, but no less windy. This time Steve was at the wheel--with one hand comfortably situated at a nice, relaxed "6 o'clock." How do men do that? The wind was still just as strong, but Steve controlled the car with no stress.
There was one particularly fun moment:

This is what a tumbleweed looks like after a direct hit from a minivan at 80 mph. (Reminds me of the Chinese noodles we put on Hawaiian Haystacks.) (Try to ignore the squashed bugs--another product of the road trip.)
Yes, it's a little scary to see tumbleweeds rolling all over the freeway (in the dark). Once you hit one, though, you realize they aren't as dangerous as they look. (Either that, or we just got really lucky. Oh, and I promise that Steve took a little firmer grip on the steering wheel once the dodgeball began!)
