A Princess Tale

Happy fifth birthday to our Princess Megan.  We celebrated Saturday with a "Royal Birthday Celebration."

You are invited to the reenactment, via Blogger.

Here ye, here ye!  All princesses and princes across the land are invited to an event that will be really grand.

You are cordially invited to Megan Fowler's Royal Birthday Celebration!

Please come dressed in your finest prince or princess attire.

Megan's good friend, Prince Brady, was visiting the kingdom of Idaho, but we did have five beautiful princesses at the party.  Here they are arriving for the celebration:

When Queen Heidi announced that she and King Steven were opening the royal treasury to share their treasures with Megan's  friends, the girls got right to work decorating some special treasure chests (gold spray painted wet wipes boxes).

Without warning, King Steven (who spent the morning laying sod in the royal yard) came stumbling down the stairs with a dagger (broom handle) sticking from his chest (armpit)!  He was just able to gasp out, "The king is slain!  A dragon has stolen the treasure!" before he passed out on the floor.

Fortunately, he wasn't slain.  It was just a flesh wound.

Queen Heidi sent the princesses on a 3-part quest:  To slay the dragon, to return the princess's stolen crown, and to find the missing treasure.  We saddled the fastest horses from the royal stable, and the girls galloped away to find the dragon.

(There are only two royal horses, so the girls had to take turns.  Melissa galloped so slowly that somehow I missed taking a picture of her.  Do you like Megan's sandals on top of her princess slippers?  Classy.)

It was difficult, but by pelting the dragon with heavy beanbag "stones," the girls were able to take care of the horrible dragon.

They jumped back on their horses and hurried to complete the quest.

During "Pin the Crown on the Princess," Princess Abby came closest to replacing the princess's lost crown, so she won an extra treasure.

Finally, the girls completed the quest by finding the stolen treasures that the dragon had hidden throughout his lair.

Quest completed, the girls filled their boxes with the treasures and feasted on pizza and cake.

The royal "mouth wiper" must have been killed in the dragon attack because Princess Megan had quite the messy face for the rest of the party!

The grand finale was a pinata, followed by gifts from Megan's friends.

It was a grand event!  Thanks for coming to the virtual party!

No. I didn't make the pinata. It's from Walmart. That type is reusable, though. It has ribbons attached to the opening.

Everyone holds a ribbon and pulls at the same time. That way, everyone opens the pinata.

On the inside, I divide the treats evenly and put them in bags--one for each kid. No fights. No hurt feelings. Everyone "broke" the pinata, and everyone got the same amount of treats.

I learned that from a mom in Florida. It works great! That pinata will be at many more birthday parties to come. I just put on new ribbons.

that looks like so much fun! I love your picture combo of all the girls riding the horses. So so cute!

As for the splash pad, it's in Ivins. Clear out there. Clear through Ivins, almost to Kayenta. Rick's sis lives in Ivins, so we end up there quite a lot, but it's quite the trek out there otherwise. But it is a nice splash pad. The problem is, the play equipment is clear across the parking lot from the splash pad, so if you have one kid wanting to play in each place, you can't see one of them.

And about the princess dress...NOT A CHANCE.
