A Camping We Will Go

This weekend was our church's second annual ward campout.  We had so much fun.  Since the adventure began with crossing a river in our minivan, how could it possibly not be fun?

Melissa is so grown up that she spent the entire time playing with friends.  Result?  No pictures of Melissa.

For me, the highlight of the evening was when a little boy (about 11 months old) knelt down and got a few good licks off of a rootbeer spill right behind the legs of the bishopric member offering a spiritual thought.  It was awesome!  You just can't get that kind of entertainment at home.  (Well, except for that time when Megan knelt down and licked the floor at the library.)

Here are Megan and Lacie testing out some of the cool rocks around our campsite:

And here I am doing a little climbing with Megan and Lacie.  We're actually quite high, but Steve zoomed in and it looks like we are barely above ground level.

We're high enough that I was feeling a little panicky as we posed on this rock!  It's an optical illusion that the trees below us are at the same level as the rock.  The climb was much more vertical than it looks in the pictures.  (You can probably tell by the graininess of the picture that we were really far away from the cameraman.  I can't believe how far cameras can zoom these days--and that wasn't even the good camera.)

One final adventure of driving through the river again--this time fast enough that the water splashed over our windshield and left us blind for a few seconds.

Good times.
