Tasting the Garden

I've been waiting for the spinach to get tall, but I finally realized that it's just not tall-growing spinach.  I think it's been ready to pick for weeks.  We tried it in this recipe, and it was yummy!

Too bad spinach shrinks so much when it's cooked.  I planted 18 plants, and this is a picture of one harvest.  I think I'd better plant a lot more next year!

It's so fun to eat things we grew ourselves.  I still have a lot to learn about gardening in the desert, but at least it's going way better than last time!
