Vote Melissa! (Updated)

After submitting an essay, a grade transcript, and a recommendation from her teacher, Melissa was selected to run for Student Council!  Three from her class were picked, and they will run against each other.  The kids were generously given one day to make their posters!  Yikes!  (Melissa said the kids were confused that the poster said "Vote Melissa" instead of "Vote for Melissa.")  I guess that's my fault.  It sounds fine to me!

Anyway, Melissa is excited to run.  Since there are two girls and one boy running from her class, she is prepared that the girls might split the girl votes while all the boys vote for the boy.  Hopefully that won't happen.  Maybe their old enough not to vote along gender lines!  Good luck, Melissa!

UPDATE
Melissa did not win the election today, but she came home happy.  The boy won, but guess what?  He voted for Melissa!  It made Melissa feel really good when several of the kids told her that they voted for her.  Sometimes when we don't win, it still feels good to know that people voted for us!  The other cool thing is that the teacher said that she or the other girl who ran can fill in when the boy is gone.  Melissa says she also feels okay about it because she can try again next year.  What an awesome attitude!!!

Melissa, I'm proud of you for trying something new!
